Our favorite event of the year, every year, is our Thanksgiving Holiday Party with Alliance for Children’s Rights at Community Coalition in South LA. Check out the sweet video HERE.
As always, we gather friends and our Heirloom LA Team to create fun action stations to provide activities for young adults and their children before we all eat together.
Our base is always a cooking class for anyone who wants to contribute to the menu. This year it was mostly the little ones who were excited about prepping, chopping, cooking, and then sharing what they made. Cooking is a great way to sneak in a math class of counting and fractions as we measure ingredients out.
Pumpkin Sage and Chocolate Pancakes to get us all started!
At the Bead Station, most of the children made jewelry to give away as gifts for Christmas. What was so touching is that this was always their own idea.
My giving friend, Summer, collects cuttings and planting pots to make a Succulent Station for everyone to make a darling plant for themselves.
Our Sales Manager, Kasey, and our top-notch helper of everything team member, April, hosted a photo booth where everyone wore goofy hats and got themsleves snapped in a polaroid keepsake.
Celebrity nail artist Mazz Hanna collects polishes all year long from her shoots and donates them to this event each year for her Manicure Station. Olive and June also donated the time of two of their manicurists to assist in this very popular station.
Burts Bees donates lip glosses for our Lip Station where everyone gets a recommended gloss for their skin tone and style. Thank you, Katey Denno for reaching out to Burts Bees for us each year to make this busy station come to life!
Oh ya! The Cupcake Station!! We brought 150 cupcakes and all of them got decorated and eaten!
DINNER TIME! We serve a traditional Thanksgiving with turkey and all the fixins…. except for pie. Everyone is sugared out from the Cupcake Station!
Thank you to all of you who contributed to the Holiday Baskets 2019 that we handed out to each guest. This year, those baskets got filled in record time by all of you donating to our wish list on Amazon. Each item in these baskets comes directly from people who care, and I made sure to say that to everyone. What a powerful message. This event took a lot of people to make it feel like a tapestry of family representing all kinds of colors and textures and unity. Thank you.
