Each year we are honored to cook for the annual fundraiser for Silverlake Conservatory of Music. It always falls right after their summer camp that we donate lunches for so it’s fun to close the year for them with this high glam event that brings out all kinds of impressive icons in the music and art world.
It was pretty adorable that our pastry chef David enlisted his two sons to come work with him in the kitchen that night. He oversaw them plate appetizers and some dinner items, as well as dessert of course. Teachin’ them early.
We served five appetizers during the cocktail hour which was held in a converted warehouse in Frog Town. Mindy Weiss Party Consultants brought in lush furnishings for the Tanzanian/Moroccan vibe they were going for.
After cocktail hour, guests made their way into another warehouse where edgy art was hung on walls to bid on with all money collected going to Silverlake Conservatory of Music. This annual event always feels like a private museum with a soundtrack of live, legendary musical performers who play during dinner.
Crostini Stations donned each table, they were part of the colorful decor actually. It’s always great to have some nibbles on the table for guests as they find their seat and are served their salad. Crostini Stations are perfect because each platter has something for all taste buds.
Each salad plate had a generous swipe of avocado puree before the vegetables were placed atop. This provides a hearty surprise once you dig your fork in. The dinner and the appetizers were all from our September Menu.
One of the sides from our September Menu were made from “Armadillo” Potatoes we sourced from Rutiz Farm. They were boiled then roasted with butter, parmesan, and aleppo and chili oil creme fraiche. They were as creamy as mashed potatoes, so good.
