Back at it with our annual Holiday Party (pandemic-style, same as last year), where we partner with Alliance for Children’s Rights to deliver Thanksgiving meals and gift bags filled with practical items to youth aging out of foster care.
So many of you donated to our wish list of laundry detergent, weighted blankets, linens, lotions, toothbrushes, and even baby items for youth with children. Alliance of Moms sent us dedicated volunteers to help pack these goods up cute, adding hand written affirmation notes with chocolate chip cookies to top them off. Truly, this event is a community effort with so many people leaning in to make it happen.
Our individual Thanksgiving Platters are delivered with all the organic fixings. Much of the ingredients were donated by our vendors. Thank you so much to Sunrise Produce, Premier Meats, and Individual Food Services for giving us the best of the best for these hearty platters.
Some Heirloom LA snacks perfect for grabbing and to eat while keeping busy with the task at hand. This is our fruit platter and avocado platter made with delicious Bubs and Grandma bread. So good. It was perfect, with lots of coffee for this early morning gathering.
Most awesome team of volunteers who not only organized and built each basket, but also personally delivered them to 65 young adults.
This is me in the middle, sandwiched with the most compassionate, hard working team from Alliance for Children’s Rights who I have partnered with year after year to make this event happen. I think this is our 10th year doing this event together!? The holidays are always so busy at Heirloom LA, so it is hard to keep track! What I do know for certain is that this event is what makes me feel most grateful for the platform our company is founded on. It is REALLY stressful to navigate a big small business in a competitive industry, especially without too many guideposts, but having the freedom to create and host community events like this where people link arms together to make good things happen for others makes all the stress worth it. Events like this keep our company grounded and focused on reaching outside of ourselves.
My dear friend Elise with JC who we are so proud of! She graduated college last year, defying all of the odds set against her, and now is pursing a career in social work. Go JC, you are so awesome and you got this!!!!
